Parsons Corporation is seeking an Electrical Lead Engineer for Airport Power Systems in Riyadh. Role Context

The Electrical Lead Engineer will guide the technical delivery of airport electrical systems from detailed design through construction, commissioning, and final handover. The position combines engineering governance with multidisciplinary coordination to ensure that critical power infrastructure is safe, resilient, maintainable, and capable of supporting continuous airport operations. A major focus of the role is the integration of electrical distribution with airfield infrastructure, passenger facilities, specialist airport systems, lighting, ICT, security, baggage handling, and building services. Strong technical leadership will help reduce design conflicts, maintain regulatory compliance, and protect project performance across complex interfaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical engineering activities across the airport development program and coordinate priorities across design and construction stages.
  • Provide technical direction to electrical engineers, designers, consultants, contractors, and specialist suppliers.
  • Establish review procedures, engineering standards, technical requirements, and electrical delivery controls.
  • Review design calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications, and engineering submissions for compliance and constructability.
  • Evaluate electrical systems serving passenger terminals, concourses, cargo facilities, operational buildings, maintenance areas, and utility infrastructure.
  • Verify compliance with project specifications, airport requirements, authority regulations, and applicable international standards.
  • Review medium voltage and low voltage power distribution architecture, including substations, transformers, switchgear, panels, and distribution networks.
  • Assess electrical load calculations, voltage drop studies, short circuit analysis, power system studies, and protection coordination.
  • Review emergency and critical power infrastructure including generators, UPS systems, and essential distribution networks.
  • Ensure redundancy, resilience, and continuity requirements are incorporated into airport electrical designs.
  • Coordinate power requirements for runways, taxiways, aircraft stands, airfield systems, visual navigation aids, and operational support facilities.
  • Review interfaces with Airfield Ground Lighting systems and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Coordinate electrical requirements with Civil, Structural, Mechanical, ICT, Security, Baggage Handling, and airport specialist disciplines.
  • Resolve multidisciplinary design conflicts affecting electrical routing, equipment locations, capacity, and system interfaces.
  • Review terminal, road, parking, external, and airfield-related lighting designs.
  • Verify lighting performance, energy efficiency, operational suitability, and control requirements.
  • Coordinate intelligent lighting controls and Building Management System interfaces.
  • Review grounding, bonding, earthing, and lightning protection systems across airport facilities.
  • Support value engineering initiatives that improve reliability, maintainability, energy efficiency, and lifecycle performance.
  • Provide electrical engineering support during construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover.
  • Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, requests for information, and technical queries.
  • Conduct site inspections to confirm installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and engineering standards.
  • Support resolution of technical issues affecting electrical construction, integration, testing, or project progress.
  • Witness testing and commissioning activities for substations, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, distribution networks, lighting, and related equipment.
  • Review inspection records, test results, commissioning reports, and electrical acceptance documentation.
  • Coordinate technical matters with the client, airport authorities, utilities, consultants, contractors, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Support authority submissions, approvals, design reviews, and technical workshops.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with approved electrical procedures, quality plans, and construction methodologies.
  • Participate in technical audits, engineering inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Support corrective actions where deficiencies, non-conformances, or performance issues are identified.
  • Prepare technical assessments, engineering recommendations, design comments, progress reports, and risk updates.
  • Maintain clear records of design reviews, approvals, technical decisions, field observations, and engineering resolutions.
  • Provide project management with regular updates on electrical progress, key risks, technical constraints, and required decisions.
  • Support preparation of operation manuals, asset registers, as-built documentation, and project closeout packages.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor 's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical design, technical review, construction supervision, and systems delivery.
  • Proven involvement in major airport, aviation, transportation, or large-scale infrastructure programs.
  • Strong practical knowledge of MV and LV distribution systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, panels, and electrical networks.
  • Experience with emergency power systems, generators, UPS systems, critical power distribution, and operational resilience.
  • Previous exposure to electrical systems for passenger terminals, cargo facilities, airfield infrastructure, support buildings, and critical operational facilities.
  • Strong understanding of electrical load analysis, protection coordination, voltage drop calculations, and short circuit studies.
  • Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, BS-EN standards, and applicable authority requirements.
  • Familiarity with airport electrical requirements, continuity standards, and aviation infrastructure interfaces.
  • Experience using ETAP, SKM PowerTools, Dialux, or comparable electrical analysis and lighting design software.
  • Familiarity with BIM platforms and multidisciplinary design coordination.
  • Ability to review complex technical submissions and make practical engineering decisions.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder coordination capability.
  • Master 's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline is advantageous.
  • Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer, or comparable professional registration is desirable.
  • Experience with international airport expansion or greenfield airport projects is highly beneficial.
  • Knowledge of ICAO, FAA requirements, aviation electrical systems, AGL, approach lighting, and navigational aid power interfaces is preferred.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC, Design-Build, EPC, PMC, or Delivery Partner delivery models is advantageous.
  • Exposure to smart grids, renewable energy integration, and sustainable airport infrastructure is valuable.
