Job Snapshot

Senior Electrical Engineer - MV and LV Systems
Role: Senior Electrical Engineer - MV and LV Systems
Location: Tabuk, Saudi Arabia
Industry: Electrical and Power Generation
Function: Electrical-Electronics Engineering
Experience: Minimum 10 years
Job Type: Full-time

Role Context

The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide technical leadership throughout the design, procurement, installation, testing, and handover of MV and LV electrical infrastructure. The role will safeguard network reliability, system capacity, electrical safety, and regulatory compliance across substations, distribution equipment, cable routes, grounding systems, and connected MEP services. The engineer will review complex calculations and contractor submissions, supervise field activities, evaluate equipment, resolve multidisciplinary interfaces, and verify that completed systems perform according to approved design criteria. Strong coordination with civil, mechanical, ELV, utility, construction, and commissioning teams will be essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical designs, layouts, specifications, and calculation packages.
  • Evaluate single-line diagrams, load schedules, cable-sizing calculations, voltage-drop studies, short-circuit studies, and protection-coordination reports.
  • Verify load-flow results, transformer capacities, diversity assumptions, demand factors, and network contingency requirements.
  • Review grounding and bonding designs, earth-grid calculations, lightning-protection systems, and electrical safety provisions.
  • Confirm compliance with Saudi Electric Company standards, project specifications, and applicable IEC, IEEE, NEC, and HCIS requirements.
  • Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, technical queries, method statements, and installation procedures.
  • Supervise the construction of MV and LV substations, package substations, transformer compounds, and electrical rooms.
  • Monitor the installation of transformers, switchgear, ring main units, distribution boards, protection panels, and control equipment.
  • Inspect cable routes, trenches, ducts, containment systems, terminations, joints, glands, labeling, and identification.
  • Verify equipment clearances, ventilation, access, fire separation, maintenance space, and interface requirements.
  • Coordinate substation foundations, cable trenches, sleeves, equipment openings, and containment with civil and structural teams.
  • Align electrical requirements with HVAC, pumping, fire protection, lighting, ELV, ICT, and automation systems.
  • Identify spatial conflicts, incomplete interfaces, design inconsistencies, and constructability risks before installation.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of bids for transformers, switchgear, RMUs, cables, relays, and electrical accessories.
  • Review vendor drawings, data sheets, compliance schedules, certificates, protection settings, and technical deviations.
  • Participate in factory acceptance tests for transformers, switchgear, protection panels, and related electrical equipment.
  • Witness site acceptance tests, insulation-resistance tests, high-voltage tests, relay-injection tests, and functional checks.
  • Verify transformer testing, switchgear operation, interlocking, protection tripping, and communication interfaces.
  • Review energization procedures, switching programs, commissioning plans, and electrical safety documentation.
  • Monitor defects, test failures, non-conformances, and outstanding technical actions through verified closure.
  • Prepare technical reports, design comments, inspection records, testing summaries, and progress updates.
  • Mentor junior electrical engineers and provide technical guidance to inspectors and contractor teams.
  • Support final handover by reviewing as-built drawings, test certificates, relay settings, operating manuals, and maintenance records.
Ideal Profile
