Job description

Provide friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all guests by taking orders, making recommendations when appropriate, processing payments, and serving food or beverages to customers at the counter or table. Also, perform other duties in the areas of food and final order preparation including preparing beverages and arranging food items.

Key Requirements:

  • This position requires the employee to occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
  • This position requires the employee to frequently lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • This position requires the employee to bend, lift and reach repeatedly.
  • This position requires the employee to stand/sit for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
  • This position requires the employee to express information verbally and in writing.
  • This position requires the employee to be able to hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • This position requires the employee to be able to grasp objects, pick up objects and hold objects.
  • This position requires the employee to work indoors and outdoors as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of Joffrey's Coffee and Tea Company.
  • Receive and process guest payments.
  • Prepare or serve hot or cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, or teas.
  • Take guest orders and convey them to other employees for preparation.
  • Clean or sanitize work areas, utensils, or equipment.
  • Describe menu items to guests or suggest products that might appeal to them.
  • Clean service or seating areas.
  • Serve prepared foods, such as all bakery items.
  • Prepare or serve menu items, such as sandwiches or salads.
  • Set up or restock product displays.
  • Weigh, grind, or pack coffee beans for guests.
  • Stock guest service stations with paper products or beverage preparation items.
  • Wrap, label, or date food items for sale.
  • Provide guests with product details, such as coffee blends or preparation descriptions.
  • Take out the garbage.
  • Order, receive, or stock supplies or retail products.
  • Slice fruits, vegetables, and desserts for use in foodservice.
  • Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, or heating equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Demonstrate the use of retail equipment, such as espresso machines.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions for improvement.
  • Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests' needs and support the operation of the store.
  • Fill in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
