The successful candidate will oversee financial operations, manage general ledger responsibilities, and collaborate with offshore teams. Ideally, applicants should have a professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA preferred) and around 5 years of experience in the financial services sector. We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of

Financial Controller - ServCo Canada

Role purpose

The role is part of the new ServCo Canada and will be responsible for all Financial Control activities.

The ServCo Canada entity has a multi-million dollar cost base, which is recharged to other Group entities.

The roleholder will be required to perform all matters related to the operational accounting and financial reporting for ServCo Canada.

In addition, there will be activities connected to the Canada sale that will need to be completed.

This will include billing and reporting associated, liaising with "the buyer" (RBC) and responding to information requests from relevant regulators as required.

Main activities

Support in the design and operation of control and standard operating procedures for the Financial control functions for ServCo Finance

  • Responsible for the General ledger and period end submissions and reporting activities
  • Perform Financial operation activities associated with statutory, regulatory and internal audit requirements.
  • Overseeing offshore operational accounting team activities
  • Billing and reporting to support the TSA (up to and after the sale takes place)
  • Ensure financial information is provided to and easily understood by work stream leaders and senior management
  • Liaise with inter-company contacts to obtain the relevant financial information required to agree positions and compile financial statements and management information
  • Liaise with global businesses and functions to provide reliable planning data for additions and amortization
  • Coordinate activities with off-shore teams
  • Work effectively with other entities controllers, the ServCo Finance team and the Accounting & Control teams.
Qualifications
  • Professionally qualified accountant with good academic background and likely to be 5 years post-qualification experience in the financial services industry.
  • (ACA, ACCA, CIMA is preferred)
  • Professional experience within the financial services sector.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with business partners.
  • Proven ability to bring sound judgement based on expert knowledge of the Group's operations and accounting policies.
  • Ability to bring lateral thinking and analytical rigor, structure and solution to problematic areas.
  • Prior experience of working with offshore teams is preferable
