Radio System Engineer

Candidate shall be able to manage the whole lifecycle of a bid or a project from a technical point of view for a Radio System in the Transportation Domain project. The role requires sound technical knowledge and experience in wireless equipment and radio environments, from Design to Configuration and maintenance of such infrastructures. The candidate will support the Bid and Project in different aspects, including analysis of contractual and system requirements, deriving subsystem requirements, and building the wireless radio infrastructure based on the outcome of such analysis. During the Project stage, the candidate will interface with Application Layer and Network Layer teams to collect inputs necessary to develop the Design. During integration and development, the Candidate will support the IVVQ team and coordinate with Suppliers to build the designed infrastructure.

• In the context of Engineering accountability, be responsible for all technical activities: identifying and analysing requirements (Contractual and System Requirements phase), defining the architecture, allocating requirements to system components, defining interfaces, developing solutions (System Design and Development phases), integrating, verifying, validating and qualifying the system (System Integration and Acceptance phases).
• Ensure conformity with requirements, quality, performance, customer satisfaction, budget and schedule relevant to the Engineering work package.
• Propose technical solutions and the general application/network architecture, equipment positioning and coverage to support the virtualized environment.
• Ensure requirements management and allocation to subsystems/components.
• Plan and oversee configuration management activities and solution integrity with the Configuration Manager.
• Support deployment/installation and site acceptance activities.
• Coordinate with other technical teams and ensure smooth transition to the Installation and Commissioning organization.
• Serve as the main technical interface for the Customer Counterpart for subsystems and coordinate with the Customer Counterpart as required by the contract.
• Participate in project meetings (internal and external) when scheduled or requested.
• Compile reports and draft official letters and correspondence to the Customer.
• Coordinate and control Vendors/Manufacturers, Suppliers and Subcontractors.
• Apply Quality and HSE procedures and manage external interfaces with the Interface Manager.
• Allocate and coordinate human and physical resources within the team (if any).
• Review the technical Scope of Work and keep the scope baseline updated, informing the PM, Contract Manager and Solution Engineering Manager.
• Propose variation requests to SEM for submission to the Customer.
• Support the PM/SEM, Contract Manager and Sales in the technical negotiation of change proposals.
• Assist in preparing Claim Files towards Vendors, Subcontracts and Customer.
• Support the technical bid contributing to the offer preparation for Radio System, Wireless Transmission System (WTS) and related applications.
• Contribute to the preparation of the list of deliverables.
• Refine acceptance procedure principles and Integration, Verification, Validation, Qualification, and Acceptance Plan with the help of the Integration Manager and SEM approval.
• Coordinate with Purchasing for the technical content of RFQ, offers evaluation and supplier selection.
• Support Purchasing in the definition of subcontracts and standard clauses for Sub Contract Agreements and Purchase Orders.

• Minimum 8 years of experience in the role.
• Strong knowledge of system requirements for existing radio standards, preferably including WiFi, GSM-R, LTE, FRMCS.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of Cellular, Radio and Wireless systems.
• Demonstrated skills in systems engineering for radio and wireless systems.
• Good knowledge of radio coverage tools (e.g., iBwave, HTZ Communications).
• Proven experience in the design and implementation of RF systems.
• Experience with several brands of different wireless radio equipment and devices.
• Technical background for design and development of Wireless Radio solutions.
• Familiarity with current technical trends in wireless and radio communications.
• Proficiency in office tools for project documentation (documents, drawings, etc.).
• Practical knowledge of development lifecycle used by systems engineers.
• Good knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Basic knowledge of Cybersecurity and Information Security.
• Basic knowledge of network engineering (TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, redundancy protocols such as HSRP/VRRP, SNMP, etc.).

The candidate must have developed through professional experience the capability to manage relationships with other departments, Customers and Suppliers.

Fluent English and Italian are mandatory.
