Welding / NDT Inspector - Offshore Fabrication

Responsibilities
- Welding Inspection
- Review and verify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and welder qualifications.
- Conduct fit up and visual inspections before, during, and after welding.
- Monitor welding parameters, joint preparations, consumables, and interpass temperature control.
- Ensure welding is performed according to approved procedures, drawings, and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS D1.1, API 1104).
- Issue weld maps, inspection reports, and maintain traceability of welds.
- NDT Coordination and Execution
- Schedule and coordinate required NDT activities (RT, UT, MT, PT, VT) according to the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
- Witness and verify NDT results conducted by third‑party or in‑house technicians.
- Interpret and evaluate test results to ensure defect‑free welds and compliance.
- Review NDT reports, radiographic films, and documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Non‑Conformance Control
- Identify and report welding and NDT‑related non‑conformances.
- Participate in root cause analysis and support corrective/preventive actions.
- Follow up on repair welding, re‑inspection, and documentation closure.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of weld logs, inspection reports, NDT results, and traceability documents.
- Prepare daily and weekly reports for submission to the QC Manager or client representatives.
- Support compilation of final quality dossiers and handover documentation.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW), materials, and codes (API, ASME, AWS).
- Familiarity with fabrication yard or site activities including pipelines, jackets, and top sides.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, isometrics, and weld maps.
- Skilled in evaluating radiographic films and NDT techniques.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and safety focus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
- Work experience of five (5) years in the desired discipline after earning the university degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of offshore experience in total, with at least the last 3–5 years spent on offshore projects.
- Excellent spoken and written English including proven ability to write reports.
