Overview

STRATEGY and M&A - SENIOR ANALYST

Job Purpose / Role

As a Senior Analyst and integral member of our team at Allianz SpA, your role will encompass a variety of dynamic and challenging tasks. These include – but are not limited to - supporting the preparation of the annual Strategic and Planning Dialogue documents, which shape the mid-term Company’s Industrial Plan, participating actively in internal and external M&A transactions, whether on the sell or buy side, as well as contributing to strategic internal reorganization projects and to any other special projects.

To this end, you will collaborate closely with a diverse range of experts, from both Allianz SpA and other international Allianz SE Group legal entities. This includes, for example, interacting with Actuarial, Accounting&Reporting colleagues, as well as with the technical area teams in the segments Life&Health, Property&Casualty and Banking, as well as with the CEO Staff.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting the coordination and preparation of the annual Strategic and Planning Dialogue documents, in accordance with Allianz Group's guidelines, pro-actively interfacing with all business functions involved and contributing to the development of the Company’s mid-term industrial strategy
  • Conducting in-depth analyses of market trends in the insurance industry, covering both Life and Non-Life segments, and performing ad-hoc analyses to support the CFO, including benchmarking studies
  • Retaining a holistic overview of ongoing strategic topics, at Company as well as at local market level, to assist, among others, in the preparation of the quarterly updates to various Allianz SE Group Board Members, ensuring alignment with Accounting&Reporting as well as with all relevant business functions
  • Contributing to local or Allianz Group special projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing growth, resilience, and productivity within Allianz SpA and its subsidiaries
  • Playing an active role in M&A processes, including e.g. support in
    • Scouting potential M&A targets
    • Critical analyses of financial, actuarial, commercial, legal, compliance and labour due diligences’ outcomes while assessing their economic, financial / non-financial implications
    • Valuation exercise, using both fundamental and empirical valuation methods
    • Vendor Business Case review and adjustment
    • Internal Business Case preparation, including synergies quantification, which involves collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure comprehensive analysis and alignment with corporate objectives
    • Preparation of internal documents for approval process at both Allianz SpA and Allianz SE Group levels
    • Coordination of the entire working group involved including external advisors
    • Filing documents preparation for Authorities’ approvals (IVASS, Golden Power, Antitrust)
    • Providing support for internal reorganization projects (e.g. merger, contribution in kind...) by performing analyses and preparing documents for local and Allianz SE approvals, as well as for filing purposes
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in quantitative fields, preferably Finance, Economics, Actuarial, Management Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent
  • At least 2-3 years of professional experience within the financial services sector, preferably in insurance or with roles in auditing, consulting firms, and investment banking
  • Good understanding of the insurance business, encompassing both Life and Non-Life segments, along with specific knowledge of key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Familiarity with Accounting topics and with the Solvency II regulatory framework
  • Experience in M&A processes and valuation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, along with other Microsoft tools, programming and / or data management skills are a plus
  • Data analytics & data reporting
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills, applying a systematic and structured approach to data analysis
  • Entrepreneurial attitude and learning agility, orientation towards technical excellence, complemented by a strong focus on results and problem-solving capabilities
  • Adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously to meet tight deadlines, showcasing your project management skills and ability to navigate complex tasks efficiently
  • Strong team player attitude, including ability to work in flexible teams involving different local and / or international interfaces, fostering a constructive working climate.
