Join a diverse, dynamic and enthusiastic team of environmental compliance professionals who play a leading role in environmental permitting and compliance at Amazon Web Services (AWS). The work of our Regional Environmental Engineers is critical to enabling AWS's growth in the US and around the world.

You will partner with AWS stakeholders to develop regional and site‑specific development strategies enabling the construction and operation of AWS datacenters and infrastructure. You will lead environmental due diligence for site selection and acquisition, develop and execute regional and site‑specific environmental permitting strategies, manage environmental compliance during design and construction, and prepare for data center operations.

Key Job Responsibilities

Assess environmental risks and develop mitigations to support data center siting and development strategies.

Lead technical aspects of environmental due diligence, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, regulatory and permitting evaluations, and natural, biological and cultural resource evaluations.

Deliver environmental permits, approvals and plans to enable on‑time and compliant construction and operations for new data center locations and expansions of existing sites.

Communicate environmental requirements, risks and activities to internal and external project partners.

Coordinate with design, water, legal, risk, power and other partner teams to optimize site designs considering natural resource or operational constraints.

Develop site development and permitting strategies that are environmentally responsible and sustainable while meeting project timelines.

Lead regulatory agency interactions and negotiations in support of environmental permit acquisition and regional development strategies.

Develop, manage and track metrics to evaluate project success.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or above in engineering or equivalent.

5+ years of project management experience.

10+ years of experience delivering multi‑media environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance for existing sites and new development.

7+ years experience conducting environmental due diligence for greenfield and brownfield sites, including Phase I and Phase II ESAs and support for investigative and remedial activities.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience directly related to the design or construction of data centers or critical infrastructure or large‑scale mechanical and electrical plants.

Experience working on multi‑team, cross‑disciplinary projects.

Experience in multiple states within the U.S. (preferably in OH, MO, and IN).

Experience managing and / or supporting community / public interactions.

Experience with Smartsheets or other project management software.

Up to 25% travel.
