About The Role :

The CrowdStrike UI Release Engineering & Observability (UIREO) team is responsible for the smooth release process and post-release support of large, distributed, feature-rich UI applications, building tooling and processes to help with that as well lead the UI observability efforts. by reducing friction through tools and processes. We currently support over 250 UI engineers who build and maintain our internal and external software products. These products are leveraged by our customers to protect their systems from the world’s most sophisticated cybersecurity adversaries.

UIREO Provides The Systems And Tooling That Enables UI Engineers To Build, Test, Deploy, And Activate Features In Our Applications, Including :

• Tools and processes for dealing with errors or incidents.
• Tools for troubleshooting and debugging production systems.
• Monitoring and maintaining speed and stability of changes through CI pipelines.
• Enabling UI engineering teams to provide sufficient automated test coverage.
• Enabling UI engineering teams to understand platform and device behaviour.
• Providing the tools to curate, collate, and visualise application quality and performance.
• Facilitating cross-team collaboration during development - e.g. code dependencies and shared libraries.
• Easing of deployment, activation, rollback, and deactivation of features.
• Measuring release cadence and effectiveness using common metrics across the platform portfolio and identifying opportunities for greater efficiency.
• Documentation and training for all the above.

What You’ll Do :

• Manage frontend releases in a monorepo environment, including coordinated (big-bang) releases and targeted releases for individual apps
• Provide world-class resources and service to a large and fast-growing group of UI engineers. Enable developers to own as much of their builds as possible, and provide tools to help them understand when their builds fail.
• Identifying and implementing new features / documentation for local development and CI, to enable UI engineers to self-service their builds
• Continuously improving the metrics and insights available to engineering teams to improve code quality and reliability with the aim of reducing release and application incidents.
• Provide training for new team members both in UIREO and UI engineering teams, to help them learn and effectively work in our systems.
• Assisting with rare or unique release scenarios, such as code freeze exceptions, rollbacks, and hotfixes for production issues.
• Participate in code reviews for new feature development (e.g. Pull Requests).
• Display the ability to collaborate, while still driving a release process end to end
• Establish consistent release management processes and cadence
• Facilitate cross-department coordination of release management functions
• Develop scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases.

What You’ll Need :

• A good understanding of JavaScript / TypeScript and experience building web application user interfaces with modern frameworks such as Ember, React, Angular, or Vue.
• A good understanding of and experience with observability tools such as Sentry, SonarQube, and LogScale or Splunk.
• A good understanding of CI / CD pipeline configuration using tools such as Jenkins.
• Familiarity with client-side build processes and tools (e.g. Ember CLI, Webpack, etc.)
• Experience writing command-line scripts using Node.js.
• Experience with testing frameworks, tools and methodologies such as QUnit or Mocha.
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services
• Comfortable with Git or similar version control systems and workflows.
• A desire to work closely with others to deliver quality software and solve problems.
