A multinational engineering company in Genoa is seeking a Space System Engineer to manage technical design, development, integration, and validation for space projects. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering and a strong background in space systems architecture. Key responsibilities include conducting trade-off studies, performing modeling activities, collaborating with engineering teams, and ensuring adherence to system requirements through testing and validation processes.

Competenze

  • Strong background in space systems architecture and requirements engineering.
  • Proficiency with simulation software and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing methods.
  • Experience with tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, SysML, or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environments.
  • Knowledge of GNSS systems (GPS, GALILEO, ...).
  • Knowledge of one programming language, at least.
  • Familiarity with ECSS standards and space mission lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations.

RINA is currently recruiting for a Space System Engineer to join its office in GENOA within the Digital Technology and Cybersecurity Division.

Mission3>

RINA is looking for a Space System Engineer. S/he is responsible for the technical design, development, integration, and validation of space related projects (satellites, launchers and ground segments). This role focuses on ensuring that system architectures and solutions meet mission requirements through rigorous engineering analysis, design studies, trade-offs, and direct participation in the Verification and Validation (V&V) process. The engineer acts as a key technical contributor throughout the system development lifecycle, from concept to qualification.

Key Accountabilities
Design and Development
  • Conduct trade‑off studies to optimize performance and cost.
  • Develop and maintain system requirement specifications and flow‑down to subsystems.
  • Perform modeling and simulation activities to validate design choices.
  • Support analysis of mission scenarios, system performance, and reliability.
Testing and Validation
  • Define and execute V&V plans in collaboration with subsystem teams.
  • Participate actively in test campaigns, data review, and anomaly resolution.
  • Ensure traceability between requirements, design, and test results.
  • Utilize simulation software and hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) testing methods to validate system functionality.
  • Analyze test data and provide detailed reports and recommendations for system improvements.
  • Prepare technical documentation (SRD, ICD, VCD, test reports).
  • Contribute to configuration control and design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR).
Collaboration
  • Work collaboratively with software engineers, hardware engineers, and other stakeholders to develop systems of interest.
  • Participate in and occasionally lead design reviews, technical meetings, and project planning sessions.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members and stakeholders, mentoring junior engineers as needed.
Documentation and Training
  • Develop comprehensive user manuals, technical documentation, and training materials for systems of interest.
  • Contribute to training sessions for end‑users.
Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Qualifications
  • Strong background in space systems architecture and requirements engineering.
  • Proficiency with simulation software and hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) testing methods.
  • Experience with tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, SysML, or Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environments.
