Would you like to help implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve the most complex technical problems? Are you excited by the prospect of building and running the world's largest cloud computing infrastructure to provide a better world for future generations? AWS builds and operates large internet infrastructure and provides customers with an infrastructure web services platform in the cloud. AWS UC supports product innovations across Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things, Platform, and Productivity Apps services, including security solutions for cloud services.

Key job responsibilities
  • Senior Systems Engineers are technical leaders and subject matter experts in multiple services. They work efficiently with limited guidance, use technology to solve complex problems, and drive improvements to services and features for their team.
  • Identify when implementations are not highly available, performant, secure, stable, maintainable, or have defects; determine short- and long-term mitigations and provide data for capacity and efficiency management.
  • Lead team design, scoping, and prioritization discussions. Understand how technical decisions impact other teams and recommend opportunities and solutions. Optimize and automate team processes to meet organizational goals.
  • Lead implementation reviews (designs, code, operational readiness, deployment plans, system changes) and anticipate patterns that affect performance, reliability, or availability.
  • Drive SOPs, documentation, and runbooks, ensure accuracy, and promote best practices. Actively recruit, interview, coach, and mentor team members; communicate clearly and collaborate to deliver results.
  • Operate with a customer-obsessed mindset, understand customer pain points, and find quick and complete resolutions. Be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity and change.
Basic Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge in Linux system administration
  • Significant experience of systems automation using BASH, Python, Perl, etc.
  • Significant experience of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP)
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host
  • Experience writing technical documents, project plans and progress reports to leadership and stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience of building and operating systems at scale
  • Advanced knowledge of configuration management systems, such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or related systems
  • Significant experience of monitoring frameworks (such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic or similar)
