A leading renewable energy firm is expanding in Italy and seeks an experienced advisor based in Milan to deliver technical and commercial services in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The role involves conducting due diligence, identifying project risks, and developing new business opportunities. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in BESS projects, a strong technical background, and be fluent in Italian and English. Our client is an innovative renewable energy company expanding its presence in Italy, with a growing focus on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Already active in key European markets, they have existing clients in Italy and a strong track record in solar and storage projects, with opportunities for further growth.

This role is based in the Milan offices.

Key Responsibilities

You will deliver technical and commercial advisory services, supporting developers, operators, investors, and lenders in Italy, while occasionally contributing to projects in Spain, Portugal, France, and the UK.

Main duties include:

• Conducting technical and commercial due diligence for storage, solar, and hybrid projects, taking ownership in roles ranging from project manager to supporting consultant.

• Identify risks that could affect project performance, timelines, costs, or financial returns, and propose mitigation strategies.

• Areas of focus may include grid connections, regulatory compliance, land acquisition, environmental considerations, project design, tariff and incentive schemes, contracts, and construction and operational planning.

• Developing new business opportunities in the BESS and solar sectors, building strong client relationships and contributing to project acquisition.

• Acting as a client-focused owner’s engineer, providing tailored support to ensure projects meet technical, commercial, and regulatory standards.

• Participating in sector initiatives, including working groups and partnerships, contributing to strategic insights and knowledge sharing.

Experience and qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in BESS projects.

• Strong technical understanding of storage systems, with ability to combine commercial and technical knowledge.

• Native/fluent in Italian and English; and other European languages a plus.

• Experience in project sales, client management, or technical-commercial roles in renewable energy is advantageous.
