Overview

Managing a small team, the Senior Credit Controller will assist in maximizing collection efforts across their designated ledgers and on strategic key accounts. Acting as a key escalation point, the Senior Controller will assist in minimizing risk, maximizing the conversion of orders into revenue, improving cash liquidity and reducing DSO. The Senior Controller will also lead efforts to utilize tools at the disposal of the team and to improve processes and procedures across the department.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Manage a team of 2 across a regional ledger service multiple brands and take ownership of collection efforts.
  • Mentor, coach and lead team, focus on career development and identify areas of training required.
  • Set annual goals for team and lead quarterly / annual performance reviews.
  • Act as an escalation point for team, providing support and guidance with negotiations to be held with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead recurring meetings with internal stakeholders, including Customer Services, Sales, Finance and Brand teams. Build strong working relationships and highlight areas of risk, provide support and guidance to reduce risk and maximize cash collection, taking both Credit and Commercial requirements into consideration.
  • Support team to maximize release of orders in line with requested delivery dates.
  • Own credit control duties for key strategic accounts keeping overdue balances at a minimum and ensure timely release of orders.
  • Keep unallocated cash across ledgers to a minimum, assist team with reconciliations when required.
  • Ensure team utilize Wolverine’s collection systems / tools, provide feedback to Senior Management on areas of improvement highlighting where processes can be streamlined / automated across the full Credit department.
  • Produce monthly aged debt reporting to be shared with key stakeholders throughout the business.
  • Identify credit limits required to support business with planned growth. Utilize backlog, credit and other reporting available to access risk and payment behaviour of customers.
  • Working alongside Credit Risk Supervisor and Credit Managers, ensure adequate insurance cover in place to minimize risk where possible.
  • Escalate accounts for debt collection and / or report to insurers in line with company policies.
  • Ensure team follow processes in line with SOX and Audit requirements.
  • Lead and provide support with special projects as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • 1-2 year supervisory or management experience
  • Minimum 3-4 years’ experience in busy credit control department
  • SAP and Excel
  • Good analytical ability
  • Works well under pressure, follows through on commitments and meets deadlines
  • Well organized and able to manage priorities
  • Flexible approach to work
  • Excellent communication skills in both Italian and English
  • Good team player
