Job Overview

The Hill’s Sales Manager (SM) is responsible for growing Hill’s business (sales, distribution, market share and Brand Recommended Most Often BRMO) in the assigned territory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain high standards of knowledge in small animal nutrition, Hill’s and competitors’ products through company training and self-study.
  • Achieve territory sales targets by managing orders’ collection through effective visits with customers and handling all commercial/financial aspects, engaging internal stakeholders.
  • Review potential of accounts within the territory annually.
  • Identify new accounts and secure strong presence and endorsement for Hill’s brands.
  • Maintain accurate records in the Hill’s reporting system.
  • Leverage company tools to drive execution (Product Distribution, Detailing material, Staff Feeding, Sampling, Trial, etc.).
  • Develop deep knowledge of the customers’ business and organization; build a network with key decision makers in the vet practice and specialty pet stores.
  • Provide best‑in‑class professional support (detailing, in‑clinic/store seminars, technical training, merchandising) to reach key stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities in the assigned customer base and develop proposals that meet Hill’s and the customer’s needs, leading to BRMO leadership.
  • Manage multi‑store customers and specific requirements.
  • Ensure full distribution and active endorsement of Hill’s products by veterinary professionals and store staff.
  • Achieve rapid acceptance, endorsement, and distribution of new products; establish shelf space and adequate inventory within each store.
  • Monitor achievement of territory objectives versus target and develop strategies to address changes in the business environment.
  • Represent Hill’s at meetings and conferences (trade shows, local/national meetings, client meetings, clinic/store special events).
Education / Experience Required
  • Master’s degree in Veterinary, Animal Science or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of sales experience (nutrition company, veterinary industry, or pharmaceutical company).
Additional Competencies / Skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong selling skills, ability to persuade, negotiate and finalize agreements.
  • Customer‑orientation / problem‑solving attitude.
  • Excellent time‑management, planning/priority setting and budgeting skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to learn company‑specific tools.
  • Fluent in Italian; good English also required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
Working Relationships
  • No direct reports.
  • Reports to Field Sales Manager.
  • Works closely with Commercial Teams including Marketing and Professional Veterinary Affairs.
Location & Travel

Modena, Parma and Reggio Emilia; no visa sponsorship.
