A leading cardiovascular research center in Sesto San Giovanni is seeking a research nurse for a 24-month position focusing on the impact of telemedicine on frailty in elderly patients. The role involves assessing telemedicine programs and developing strategies to assist vulnerable patients. The ideal candidate should have a nursing degree and preferably experience with telemedicine, working in a motivated team environment.
Job offer
Research position for 24 months in the field of “Telemedicine / Telerehabilitation”, assessing its impact on frailty in elderly patients with congestive heart failure and/or acute coronary syndrome.
Job Location
IRCCS MultiMedica, Cardiovascular Department, Via Milanese, 300, 20099, Sesto San Giovanni, Milan, Italy.
Job description
Very old patients with cardiovascular diseases (CVD) have higher mortality and risk for disability after hospitalizations. This increased vulnerability is termed frailty, and it is frequent in older patients with CVD. Frailty, defined as an increased vulnerability to stressors due to a decrease in physiological reserves of multiple body systems, is an independent predictor of autonomy loss and poor prognosis including death. Limited data suggest that frailty can be reversed; thus, further studies are needed on interventions potentially useful in reversing frailty. Secondary prevention and cardiac rehabilitation programs improve prognosis. However, several barriers exist in their implementation, particularly in elderly and frail patients. Digital-based Telemedicine and Telerehabilitation could potentially reduce these barriers in elderly CVD patients and help revert frailty.
