A leading technology consulting company based in Florence is seeking a Senior IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) System Administrator. The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years of hands-on experience in IBM WAS, particularly in enterprise environments, and strong knowledge of Linux/Unix. Responsibilities include installing and configuring WAS, managing network deployment architectures, and performance monitoring. A certification in IBM WAS is strongly preferred. This role may involve remote work activities.

We are recruiting for one of our clients a IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) System Administrator / Expert Role. We are looking for a senior IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) System Administrator / Expert, with hands‑on, day‑by‑day operational experience on IBM middleware environments. This is a strongly system‑oriented role. Profiles with only generic Java or application‑level exposure to WAS will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation, configuration and administration of IBM WebSphere Application Server in enterprise environments
• Management of WAS Network Deployment (ND) architectures: Cell, Deployment Manager, Node / Node Agent, Clusters, JVM, thread pool and connection pool tuning and optimization
• Configuration of security (SSL, certificates, LDAP integration)
• Performance monitoring and advanced troubleshooting on production issues
• Support to upgrade and migration activities across WAS versions
• Close collaboration with infrastructure and application teams in mission critical contexts
• Remote work activities

Mandatory Technical Requirements

• At least 3–4 years of hands‑on, proven experience as WAS System Administrator
• Strong, practical experience on IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS 8.5.x / 9.0 Network Deployment)
• Solid experience on Linux / Unix environments
• Log analysis and root cause analysis
• High availability and enterprise‑grade setups
• Experience in regulated, enterprise environments (banking / financial services is a plus)

Nice to Have

• Experience with IBM HTTP Server (IHS)
• Experience with IBM MQ
• Familiarity with automation and scripting (bash, wsadmin)

Certifications (strongly preferred)

• IBM Certified System Administrator – WebSphere Application Server
• Other IBM middleware certifications
