Overview

The MECHANICAL PROJECT LEAD supervises and guides the mechanical design and implementation of conveyor and automation solutions, ensuring system integrity, functionality, and manufacturability. This role collaborates closely with cross-disciplinary engineering teams, production, and suppliers to align project execution with design intent.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of mechanical engineers and designers throughout all project phases. Assign tasks, review outputs, and ensure adherence to project timelines and technical requirements.
  • Act as the primary mechanical point of contact for internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Review mechanical designs, assembly drawings, and technical documentation for accuracy and feasibility. Ensure all solutions meet safety standards, client specifications, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Guide the team in developing scalable and standardized components where possible.
  • Collaborate with project managers to align engineering deliverables with project schedules. Identify mechanical risks and resolve design challenges early in the planning phase.
  • Provide input during project reviews and actively support issue resolution during execution.
  • Coordinate closely with automation, electrical, production, and commissioning teams to ensure cohesive system design. Assist procurement by validating mechanical specifications and advising on technical feasibility. Support installation teams by clarifying design intent and resolving on-site mechanical challenges.
  • Promote continuous improvement in design processes, standards, and documentation practices. Monitor compliance with internal design protocols and industry regulations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and team leadership.
  • Knowledge of conveyor systems or industrial machinery.
  • Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
Technical Skills
  • Advanced CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor)
  • Design review and validation techniques
  • Strong understanding of conveyor systems and mechanical integration
  • Familiarity with mechanical standards, tolerances, and safety directives
  • BOM and technical documentation management
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and material properties
  • PDM/PLM systems usage and configuration
