Overview

The Space Production Mechanical Engineer (AIT) will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and components for satellites. The role will involve all stages of design, prototyping, testing, and validation, with the goal of ensuring that all components meet the high standards of quality, safety, and performance required for the space industry.

Responsibilities
  • Mechanical Design: Design, develop, and optimize mechanical components for micro and small satellites, considering technical specifications, materials, and manufacturing solutions.
  • Documentation: Create 3D models and detailed technical drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Integration: Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate mechanical components into space systems, ensuring optimization for the space environment.
  • Analysis and Simulation: Perform structural, thermal, and vibration analyses to verify performance under extreme conditions (launch and orbit); use simulation software (e.g., ANSYS) to test and validate materials and components; provide solutions to optimize mechanical performance and reduce failure risk.
  • Testing and Validation: Plan, execute, and analyze test campaigns for mechanical components; collaborate with Testing and Integration team to ensure readiness for assembly and final integration into the satellite; propose improvements based on test results to optimize robustness.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain technical documentation related to designs, specifications, and design changes; create test and analysis reports; ensure compliance with company standards and space industry regulations (ECSS, NASA, ISO).
  • Project Management: Work with engineering and production teams to ensure design activities are on time and within budget; monitor progress and address technical issues during development.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure components comply with space safety standards and applicable international regulations; contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to safety procedures and environmental regulations.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 2-3 years in mechanical design, preferably in aerospace or other high-tech industries.
  • CAD Skills: Advanced experience with SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD, or similar.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in mechanical simulation software for structural and thermal analysis (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of aerospace materials and mechanical design principles.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong ability to solve complex problems and identify optimal solutions.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams with emphasis on quality and attention to detail.
  • License: Possession of a valid driver\'s license (Category B).
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in designing space components or satellite systems.
  • Knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing and other fabrication technologies.
  • Familiarity with international space standards (ECSS, ISO, NASA).
