Overview

Join Canonical as a Junior Product Manager. Canonical is a leading open‑source software company that builds and supports Ubuntu, the world’s most popular operating system. As a distributed organization, teams collaborate across 75 + countries and 1,200 + colleagues.

Location

Home‑based in the EMEA time zone. You must be located in this region.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the product development lifecycle, reviewing priorities and goals for your product.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams such as engineering, design, marketing and sales.
  • Conduct market research, analyze industry trends, and gather customer feedback to identify opportunities.
  • Communicate product vision, status updates and key decisions to ensure alignment and manage expectations.
  • Conduct usability testing, analyze user feedback and iterate on the product to improve the user experience.
  • Collaborate with marketing, sales and support teams to develop go‑to‑market strategies, create product documentation and provide training.
  • Contribute to the success of our sales team in winning new opportunities and participating in customer meetings.
  • Oversee the work of a product line, ensuring consistency in strategy and execution across different teams.
  • Facilitate collaboration and resolve conflicts within and between teams.
Qualifications
  • Exceptional academic results at high school and university.
  • Understanding of Linux and the broader open‑source community.
  • Knowledge of computer architecture, application development, datacenters, cloud or device technologies.
  • Passion for writing about technologies and the tech landscape.
  • A strong work ethic and commitment to the open‑source movement.
  • Curiosity and a habit of continuous learning.
  • Strong sense of ownership and problem‑solving mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple product lines while focusing on key priorities.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to four times a year for company events up to two weeks long.
Additional Skills That We Value
  • Familiarity with verticals such as telco, finance, industrial, automotive.
  • Experience with cloud‑native technologies: Kubernetes, Docker, Snap.
  • Knowledge of embedded and connected device technology.
  • Understanding of networking technologies: Ethernet, IPv4/IPv6, routing, firewalling, overlay and SR‑IOV.
  • Experience leading distributed teams across time zones.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and innovation.
