IRCCS San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan, Italy, is looking for a junior bioinformatician to join the Experimental Hematology Unit in the division of Immunology, Transplantation and Infectious diseases.

Main activities:

The main research focus of the Experimental Hematology Unit is the development, preclinical and clinical validation of cell and gene therapy approaches to treat cancer. Our group pioneered the clinical use of genetically engineered lymphocytes in the context of stem cell transplantation. The team, directed by Prof. Chiara Bonini, has extensive experience on cancer immunotherapy, genetic manipulation of T cells, including TCR/CAR gene transfer. Prof. Chiara Bonini is also director of the Cell Therapy Immunomonitoring (MITiCi) Lab. This section of the lab performs immunological assays in the context of cell and gene therapy clinical studies, including phase I clinical trials, in compliance with the national regulation (Determina AIFA 809/2015; Italian Medicines Agency), with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and, more in detail, with Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) principles.

Successful candidates will apply bioinformatics tools to analyse different types of omics data to evaluate CAR-T cell dynamics in treated patients with the aim of identifying cellular and molecular signatures associated to clinical outcome. He/she will work in a dynamic research hospital, within a multidisciplinary team integrating experimental and computational expertise, joining the Bioinformatics Team of the Experimental Hematology Unit coordinated by Dr. Chiara Balestrieri. He/she will also benefit from close interactions with bioinformaticians working at Center for Omics Sciences (COSR) and at the Bioinformatics Core of the San Raffaele Telethon Institute for Gene Therapy (SR-Tiget).

Who we are looking for:
  • previous experience in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data analysis
  • demonstrated proficiency in Python or R
  • Interest in immuno-oncology and/or previous experience working in the field of immunology is appreciated
  • a track record of publications in bioinformatics is appreciated.
Work details:
  • Type of contract will depend on experience and CV of the applicant
  • Duration: one-year renewable
