Joining Operations & R&D

Within IT, the Operations & R&D team is an experienced, nimble & expert team composed of multiple sub streams. The main purpose of the team is to lead the digital strategy and transformation of Operations and R&D functions through effective business partnering and conceptualizing, delivering and supporting state of the art and secure IT technologies across the end-to-end value chain.

When you join this team, you will work closely with Operations & R&D leadership team and critical business stakeholders as a trusted technology partner to embed continuous innovation, work at speed and scale, develop your career in numerous directions in line with your aspirations and in a truly international and diverse context.

What’s the purpose of this role?

The IT Solution Expert R&D acts as a key liaison between R&D teams and IT, supporting robust, compliant, and integrated IT solutions for R&D laboratories. The role focuses on implementing and maintaining laboratory applications (e.g., LIMS, CDS, MBSE, SDMS, instrument integration), enabling digitalization of lab processes and data integrity. You’ll combine technical expertise with business process understanding to deliver validated systems supporting laboratory workflows.

Your day-to-day
  • Support and Maintain Laboratory Applications: Assist in the implementation, configuration, and support of LIMS (LabVantage or similar) and related laboratory applications for R&D laboratories
  • Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering: Engage with R&D users to understand business requirements and translate them into functional and technical specifications
  • Solution Design & Delivery: Participate in the design, build, testing, and deployment of IT solutions, ensuring alignment with PMI’s digitalization strategy, cybersecurity, and compliance standards
  • Documentation & Training: Create and maintain system documentation, user guides, and training materials. Deliver training sessions to end users as needed
  • Continuous Improvement: to optimize laboratory processes and IT solutions, contributing to technology roadmaps and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams, including business users, IT architects, and vendors, to deliver integrated solutions
  • Compliance & Data Integrity: Ensure solutions adhere to regulatory, quality, and data integrity requirements, supporting audit readiness and business continuity
What is needed to succeed in this role?
  • Education: University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience: 3+ years in IT analyst, solution/subject matter expert or similar roles, preferably in R&D, laboratory, or manufacturing environments
  • Technical Skills: Experience with LIMS (LabVantage or similar), laboratory applications, or scientific data management systems. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS or similar) is a plus. Understanding of IT service management, Agile methodologies (SAFe), and tools (e.g Jira, Confluence)
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities. Ability to work in multicultural, cross‑functional, and remote teams. Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn in a dynamic environment
  • Compliance: Knowledge of IT compliance frameworks (e.g., ITPF) and data integrity best practices is an advantage
  • Language: Fluent in English (written and spoken)
