Leap29 is supporting a large-scale energy project in Italy. The work relates to a major gas development that includes offshore wells, subsea infrastructure, and upgrades to an onshore processing facility supporting long-term gas export operations. The scope covers new field development phases, flowlines, tie‑ins, and reliability improvements across both offshore and onshore assets.
This role supports engineering and offshore execution for installation and marine operations tied to the project’s subsea and topside development phases. The engineer will be responsible for installation engineering, marine planning, and coordination of offshore activities.
Responsibilities
Engineering and Planning
- Develop and review installation procedures, method statements, and risk assessments for subsea structures, jackets, topsides, pipelines, flexible risers, umbilicals, moorings, and related equipment.
- Define lifting and rigging plans, sea fastening, load‑out strategies, and temporary works such as grillages, support frames, and installation aids.
- Provide input to project schedules, aligning activities with vessel availability and weather windows.
- Participate in HAZIDs, HAZOPs, and constructability reviews.
- Analyse hydrodynamic loads, stability, vessel motions, and marine weather conditions.
Marine Operations Supervision
- Support or lead offshore operations including vessel mobilisation, load‑out, transportation, lifting, lowering, piling, and installation campaigns.
- Co‑ordinate with marine spreads including derrick barges, DP vessels, and AHTs, ensuring all operations comply with marine standards.
- Liaise with Marine Warranty Surveyors and classification societies.
- Monitor offshore activities for compliance with procedures, quality, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Troubleshoot technical and operational issues in real time offshore.
Interface and Coordination
- Collaborate with project management, construction, HSE, QA/QC, procurement, and logistics teams.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers working on fabrication, transport, and installation scopes.
- Ensure adherence to client specifications and industry standards including DNV, API, ABS, and IMCA.
Documentation and Reporting
- Produce installation drawings, technical notes, and interface documents.
- Compile as‑built documentation, operational logs, and close‑out reports.
- Maintain records required for MWS approval and project audits.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of offshore construction and marine installation engineering.
- Experience using OrcaFlex, MOSES, SACS, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
- Good knowledge of DP operations, anchor handling, and diving support activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Minimum five years’ experience in the discipline, including at least five years offshore and three to five years on offshore projects.
- Excellent written and spoken English with proven reporting capability.
