A leading global food company is seeking a Global Senior Toxicologist in Alba, Italy. The role involves monitoring food safety risks, driving risk mitigation processes, and conducting risk assessments across the food supply chain. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience in quality and food safety, possess a Master’s or PhD in a related field, and be fluent in English. Main Responsibilities:

As Global Senior Toxicologist, you will be part of the Food Safety & Quality department and be the Group subject matter expert on toxicological food safety risks, especially contaminants, directly reporting to Food Safety & Product Integrity Manager.

By covering this position, you will monitor external scientific, technical and regulatory evolutions in the field of chemical Food Safety (e.g. environment and process contaminants) applying horizon scanning best practices. Moreover, you will leverage on new developments when relevant and evaluate potential business impact enabling science-based and informed business decisions.

You will drive the risk anticipation process from risk identification to risk mitigation, to ensure all emerging or evolving risks are managed properly, by involving all the required functions and deliver risk assessments in all circumstances. You implement new state-of-the-art toxicological assessment methodologies and tools to conduct a robust risk analysis across the value chain enabling science-based decisions to predict and prevent potential Food Safety issues.

Conducting risk assessments on the field of chemical safety, you will support product design, sourcing, manufacturing, also in case of crisis and incidents to enable informed business decisions. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be key to provide toxicological expertise throughout the whole product life cycle. In this role, you will create, develop and nurture a scientific external network and strong partnerships, being up to date with scientific evolutions, studies and emerging risks. You will support the creation of a global scientific engagement strategy on Food Safety topics as well as the building of a scientific Advisory Board composed of internationally recognized experts to create and maintain state-of-the-art expertise within the Group. In relation to this, you will represent the Group in worldwide Food Safety and selected Food Safety organizations, events, conferences, etc. to increase credibility and shape external Food Safety standards.

Last but not least, you will develop internal capabilities with trainings, methods and tools to equip the different functions.

About You:

You bring your Master’s Degree or PhD Biology, Chemistry, Food Science or a related field and your solid 8+ years of experience in Quality/Food Safety/Chemical Safety/Risk Management roles. Your deep knowledge of the Food sector and your background in structured, multinational companies will be a key asset for us.

You can work in a fluent English, leveraging on your international mindset and ability to craft clear communication across diverse teams. Your analytical skills and natural leadership will help you to meet all the ambitious goals of the function.
