Fractional Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) – Sustainability & Energy Sector

HexErgy is a cleantech startup building a SaaS platform that transforms a simple signature into real energy savings for communities. Through the energy community model, HexErgy enables citizens, businesses, and institutions to collectively produce, share, and benefit from renewable energy. Our platform automates the entire lifecycle of energy communities from design and regulatory compliance to implementation and ongoing management, through dedicated software modules.

Today, HexErgy supports 600+ energy community projects across Italy, the Netherlands, and Colombia, and is actively expanding into the United States, Spain, France, Germany, and Portugal.

Role Description

We are seeking a Fractional Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) who is deeply passionate about sustainability and the energy transition, and who wants to apply senior marketing leadership to generate real-world impact. You will own marketing strategy and key decisions, lead our marketing agency, manage the internal marketing team, and ensure that HexErgy’s story consistently delivers the WOW Effect across markets, audiences, and channels. This is a strategic, high-impact role focused on purpose-driven growth.

What you will do
  • Own and define HexErgy’s global marketing strategy, with sustainability and energy transition at its core
  • Make strategic marketing decisions and set clear priorities
  • Lead, challenge, and coordinate the external marketing agency
  • Manage and mentor the internal marketing team, fostering purpose, clarity, and performance
  • Translate complex energy concepts into clear, inspiring narratives for citizens and institutions
  • Design and guide multi-country go-to-market strategies
  • Oversee citizen-facing (B2C) acquisition and engagement
  • Guide B2B, institutional, and partner marketing positioningDefine KPIs that balance growth, trust, and impact
  • Ensure consistent messaging that delivers the WOW Effect across all markets
  • Support investor, institutional, and strategic communications
Who you are
  • 10+ years of experience in senior marketing leadership roles
  • 5+ years in cleantech, energy, climate tech, or B2B SaaS
  • Proven experience managing both B2C and B2B marketing strategies
  • Strong track record in international marketing for growing companies
  • Genuinely passionate about sustainability and the energy transition
  • Experience leading agencies and internal teams
  • Comfortable operating in regulated and multi-country environments
  • Strategic, decisive, and purpose-driven
