Job Description

The Engine BTE-Friction-Thermal Virtual Analysis engineer will work within the Propulsion Systems Virtual Engineering team and collaborate with Product Release Centers (PRCs and other stakeholders) and with other Stellantis cross-functional teams to support product development and methodological activities through CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) in the area of Engine Brake Thermal Efficiency (BTE), Engine Friction and Engine Thermal analysis. This position reports to the Global CAE Manager of the discipline. Robust technical, interpersonal and team leadership skills are essential.

Activities
  • Engine 1D/0D Fuel Economy assessment.
  • Engine Structural Thermal Model (STM) development.
  • Engine Lube circuit model development.
  • Cranktrain friction model development.
  • Valvetrain friction model development.
  • Piston Group friction model development.
  • Timing Chain/Belt friction model development.
  • Balance Shaft Module (BSM) friction model development.
  • Front End Auxiliary Drive (FEAD) friction model development.
  • Electrical-Hydraulic-Mechanical devices models development.
  • Perform optimization analysis aimed to ensure the best trade-off over performances.
  • Execute detailed studies including root cause analysis on issues, identification and validation of enablers for meeting the target.
  • Conversion of detailed models to FR (Fast Running) and RT (Real Time) ones.
  • Models' connection/coupling for Integrated System Simulation.
  • Develop innovative solution for Fuel Economy, Friction, Thermal improvement.
  • Perform correlation activities aimed to demonstrate the virtual analysis confidence level.
  • Coordinate execution of CAE activities for propulsion systems program(s) including timely delivery of status vs target and proactive identification / validation of enablers.
  • Technical synthesis, reporting and communication with clear takeaways, executive summary and, if needed, risk mitigation plan.
  • Direct interaction with STLA stakeholders for all the steering activities: input data collection, assumptions validation, results revision and communication.
Profile

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, Applied Physics, or related Engineering field).
  • Thorough knowledge of the English language including both written and oral communication.
  • Experience in powertrain virtual analysis using commercial codes such as Gamma Technology GT-Suite
  • General knowledge of commercial CAD packaging including NX and Teamcenter.
  • Experience in CFD-1D and multibody analysis, focused on conventional and hybrid ICE
  • Effective communications skills and analytical thinking.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships and uncertainty.
  • Excellent work ethic, organization and communication skills.
