About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and talented intern to join our automotive application team to develop advanced AI‑based solutions for improving audio acquisition from PDM microphones, specifically targeting automotive applications. The intern will focus on leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to enhance noise cancellation and audio quality in digital microphone systems embedded in automotive microcontrollers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and analyze state‑of‑the‑art AI algorithms for audio denoising, adaptive filtering, and noise cancellation tailored for automotive environments.
  • Develop and implement AI models (e.g., neural networks) to process PDM microphone bitstreams and improve signal quality under challenging automotive noise conditions such as engine noise, road noise, and cabin reverberations.
  • Design and simulate decimation and filtering techniques enhanced by AI for converting PDM data to high‑fidelity PCM audio suitable for automotive voice control systems.
  • Evaluate AI model performance using objective audio quality metrics and automotive‑specific criteria, ensuring compliance with automotive‑grade reliability and latency requirements.
  • Collaborate with embedded system engineers to prototype and optimize AI‑enhanced PDM acquisition algorithms on automotive microcontroller platforms (e.g., STELLAR family with automotive‑grade features).
  • Contribute to the integration of AI audio processing within automotive active noise cancellation systems.
  • Document research findings and contribute to technical reports, presentations, and potential patent filings related to automotive audio processing innovations.
Skills
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Signal Processing, or related fields.
  • Strong foundation in digital signal processing and audio acquisition principles.
  • Basic knowledge of machine learning and AI frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Programming skills in Python and/or C/C++.
  • Interest or experience in automotive embedded systems and microcontroller programming is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of automotive noise environments and challenges in in‑cabin audio capture is a plus.
  • Good analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
