A local healthcare organization in Aylesbury is seeking volunteers for a gardening project to support staff, patients, and the community. Volunteers will engage in tasks such as building garden structures and participating in gardening activities. Ideal candidates should have DIY skills and a strong interest in gardening. Skills
The growing healthy project is developing garden and allotment sites for staff, patients and the community to work on. We are looking to develop a team of volunteers to work on this project and are looking for someone with practical skills who can help with things like building planters, making composters, maintain or building a shed and other more practical aspects of an allotment.
Working alongside other volunteers and under the growing healthy team you could learn new skills, share your knowledge, experience the feel good factor of growing and gardening, make a difference and eat healthy food that you have grown!
This could be a great way to share your skills, build your experience, improve your prospects whilst making a positive difference.
- Maintenance and construction of items in the allotment and gardens, including but not limited to:
- Making raised beds and other items e.g. nets, composters, shed, green house.
- Developing the sites accessibility
- Making planters benches and other wooden items?
- Panting and staining items.
- Maintain tools etc
- Can also be involved in all gardening and growing activities.
We are happy for the person(s) who volunteer to add to the garden space and discuss any thoughts or ideas to improve it further.
- Trades DIY or maintenance background
- Has a garden and interested in gardening
- Self-starter
- Physically fit; able to stand/walk garden for up to 2 hours
- Self-motivated – you will not be told what to do – its about seeing what needs to be done and doing it in the garden spaces
- Friendly and approachable
- Understands the importance of commitment
- Work as a team – perhaps with other volunteers and with Property Services colleague or Community Head Injury Service (CHIS) colleague
- Good communication skills
- Would understand and apply CARE values
- Support from growing healthy team
