A veterinary practice in Norwich seeks a passionate Veterinary Surgeon to join their team. You'll work with a variety of animals and have opportunities for professional growth, enjoying a supportive environment. Offering a competitive salary and flexible hours, this position is perfect for veterinarians looking for work-life balance and diverse caseloads with exciting cases.
Salary up to £75,000 DOE, Relocation Allowance up to £5,000 and Welcome Bonus up to £5,000. Are you ready to be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team where no two days are ever the same? At Chapelfield Vets in Norwich, we are looking for a passionate Veterinary Surgeon who thrives on variety, enjoys collaboration, and is keen to grow within a friendly and progressive practice.
Based at our modern, well-equipped Norwich branch, you’ll work with dogs, cats, and small furries such as rabbits, guinea pigs, rodents, ferrets, and birds. With plans to expand our exotic services, there’s plenty of opportunity to develop your own interests. Our facilities include three consulting rooms (with a fourth on the way), two sterile theatres, a dedicated dental suite, digital DR X-ray, Sonoscape Propet 60 ultrasound, and separate cat and dog wards.
Your week will typically combine consultations with at least one dedicated surgical day, giving you exposure to a wide range of procedures. These include neutering, dentals, mass removals, laparotomies, orthopaedics, BOAS, and TECA. Most cases are managed in-house, so you’ll enjoy continuity of care for your patients and clients. While this role is primarily based in Norwich, there may also be opportunities to work across our wider team if you’d like additional variety.
What sets Chapelfield apart is the occasional extraordinary case. We support local wildlife, from hedgehogs to deer, and partner with Africa Alive and Banham Zoo. That means every now and then, you might find yourself treating something a little unusual, our most memorable visitor? A vulture!
Across our five branches we have 19 small animal vets, including certificate holders in dermatology, ophthalmology, and orthopaedics, with others currently studying imaging and feline medicine. Supporting them are 21 RVNs, four VCAs, and a fantastic reception team. Our nurses run their own consults, including post-op checks, second vaccines, and wellness clinics, and everyone is encouraged to develop their own areas of interest. You’ll be part of a team that values collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and individual growth.
We know life doesn’t fit neatly into a rota, so we offer flexible working patterns that adapt to your lifestyle. Whether you’re balancing school runs, family commitments, or simply want more time outside of work, we’ll work with you to find a pattern that suits. The full-time rota is up to 40 hours across four days with 1:4 Saturday mornings and no OOH. Part-time applications are warmly welcomed.
