Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Land Entry Officer to join the Finance Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

What we do:

Everyone has an idea of what a water company does. Here in Yorkshire, we make sure that over 5.4 million people living in the region and the millions of people who visit our region each year can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap and that their wastewater is taken away. But for us, it’s so much more than this.

We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to look after Yorkshire’s water, today, tomorrow 24/7, 365 days a year. We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, and play a key role in the region’s health, wellbeing, and prosperity.

New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. The Finance function is a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

Join us in a role where attention to detail meets real impact. As part of our team, you’ll play a key part in ensuring projects run smoothly by managing land entry processes, liaising with project managers and partners, surveyors and the legal team whilst keeping everything on track. If you’re organised, proactive, and passionate about delivering great customer experiences, this is your chance to make a difference!

Where you fit in:
As our Land Entry Officer, you will:
  • Conduct land referencing searches using HM Land Registry and cross-check data with internal systems such as Yorbill, Companies House, and ICE.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and partners to ensure accurate information is provided, enabling notices to be served on time and preventing delays to project start dates.
  • Support the production of drawings for statutory notices using CAD software when required.
  • Prepare and issue land entry notices using the LENS database system.
  • Liaise with internal teams including Legal, Land & Property, and the mailing room to resolve technical land queries.
  • Act as the main point of contact for partners and project teams regarding notices, ensuring queries are handled promptly and professionally.
  • Record all notices served in the ICE customer management system and assist with monthly reporting.
  • Ability to work to company agreed SLA’s.
  • Ability to prioritise workload depending on demand.
  • Use mapping systems to produce appropriate plans
What skills & qualifications you will need:
  • Understand and follow the Land Entry process
  • Strong Microsoft excel and word skills
  • Previous experience of using multiple systems and software to gather information and complete applications effectively
  • Knowledge of the Water Industry Act 1991 and statutory land entry notices, with an understanding of capital projects
  • Be a collaborative team player who delivers outstanding customer experiences
  • Show energy, enthusiasm, and a practical, common-sense approach to problem-solving
  • Have the confidence to ask questions, challenge processes, and suggest improvements
  • Knowledge of GIS/mapping systems
  • Attention to detail and carrying out quality checks to a set standard
  • Ability to build working relationships with internal and external personnel

Although we operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it’s important to us that we support flexible working patterns and job share options (when we can), to help you make the best of both your work and home life. We know that juggling childcare responsibilities or getting that ideal work/life balance isn’t always easy!

Do we sound like your cup of tea?
