Job description

Application Deadline: 13 June 2025

Department: Children's Services

Location: Torbay Council

Compensation: £47,688 - £57,954 / year

Description

Torbay Children’s Services is seeking to recruit a creative and innovative educational psychologist to expand its existing team of skilled and friendly staff, as we develop and grow. We welcome applications for both part-time and full-time roles.

We are interested in hearing from experienced EPs, those at an earlier stage of their careers, and trainees currently on educational psychology doctoral training programmes. We particularly welcome applications from trainees qualifying in September 2025.

The Educational Psychology Service is a highly valued team within the local authority. We aim to offer a balanced workload of traded and statutory work and are pleased to provide opportunities to focus on early identification and prevention projects. Our service delivery model is consultation-based, with options for in-depth casework, systemic work, and professional development, promoting solution-focused, person-centred approaches and co-production with partner agencies to facilitate positive change.

The successful applicant will be a highly valued member of our service. We offer:

  • Soulbury Scale 3-8 Plus SPA
  • Generous leave entitlement
  • Opportunities to deliver ELSA training and supervision
  • Flexible working practices
  • Collaboration within a broad multi-disciplinary team, working closely with SEN case officers, our virtual school, vulnerable pupils’ team, early years practitioners, and sensory impairment teams
  • Additional supervision and support for NQEPs
  • Access to staff networks sharing similar characteristics and values

We are an inclusive employer reflecting our community and particularly welcome applications from underrepresented groups.

Torbay Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. All staff and volunteers are expected to share this commitment.

This post involves Regulated Activity and requires an Enhanced Criminal Record Check, including Barred List Check, to reveal any convictions, cautions, or police information.
