A prestigious research university in the UK is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join its Environmental Research Division. The successful candidate will work on a 3-year project to improve climate change projections through ocean heat uptake modeling. Candidates must have a PhD in Physical Oceanography, analytical skills, and programming proficiency. This position is open to all genders and career stages.
Qualifications
- Recently completed PhD in Physical Oceanography or related discipline is mandatory.
- Experience with oceanic observations and climate model simulations is crucial.
- Strong numeracy skills and proficiency in programming languages are required.
Responsabilités
- Contribute to the development of a process-based model of ocean heat uptake.
- Participate in project planning, data analysis, and dissemination of results.

Formation
We seek a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the Environmental Research Division and work on a 3-year NERC funded project to implement and test a newly developed process-based model of ocean heat uptake that will improve the accuracy of climate change projections by simple climate models.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development, implementation and testing of a process-based model of ocean heat uptake within a climate modeling framework, and participate in project planning, data analysis and dissemination of results.
- A recently completed PhD in Physical Oceanography or related discipline
- Experience with analysing oceanic observations and/or climate model simulations
- Strong numeracy skills and proficiency in a programming language such as Python/Matlab/Fortran
- Publication record commensurate with experience
