About the role

The School of Biological and Marine Sciences at the University of Plymouth ( https://www.plymouth.ac.uk/schools/school-of-biological-and-marine-sciences ) is seeking to appoint a new Lecturer in Marine Remote Sensing. We encourage applications demonstrating expertise in the development of remote sensing methods and their application to the marine environment. You will be a highly motivated and dynamic academic who seeks the opportunity to build a career in a University with an international reputation in marine science. You will be a highly motivated and dynamic academic who will be expected to deliver excellence in teaching and research and become a productive member of the School\'s academic staff. This is an exciting chance to be part of a progressive and cutting-edge University in a beautiful location, where you can really make a difference.

The appointment will complement and build on our existing research and teaching strengths. Our marine science team has internationally recognised expertise in coastal processes, physical processes in marine systems, the role of dynamic processes in the marine ecosystem and assessing human impacts in that environment, and a growing expertise in marine autonomous systems ( https://www.plymouth.ac.uk/schools/school-of-biological-and-marine-sciences/marine-science ).

This role is closely aligned to our BSc programmes in Ocean Science, Ocean Exploration and Surveying and Ocean Science and Marine Conservation, and the postgraduate programmes, MSc Applied Marine Science and MSc Hydrography. The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to contribute to teaching across the School in Marine Biology, Marine Conservation and Biological Sciences delivering teaching in the application and analysis of remotely sensed data and GIS.

You will have a doctoral degree in a relevant field, supported by experience at postdoctoral or equivalent level, and an excellent research track record demonstrated through high calibre outputs of a quality likely to contribute to our future UK Research Excellence Framework (REF) submission. Clear evidence of successful grant applications as a PI is desirable. All activities that you undertake within this role need to be in compliance with the University\'s Safety Policy and undertaken in a way that demonstrates the University\'s commitment to Equality and Diversity for staff, students and partners.

The successful candidate may be required to obtain an ATAS Certificate prior to this research being undertaken.

For this role, you will need to be on site 3 days a week. Although we can accommodate working from home for this role, flexibility to be on-site will be expected due to business needs.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis.
