A healthcare organization in the UK is seeking a dedicated professional to support pregnant women in smoking cessation. The candidate will work within the tobacco dependency team to provide innovative support aimed at improving pregnancy outcomes. Responsibilities include offering motivational interviewing, ensuring referrals are timely, and conducting awareness sessions for staff to reinforce the trust's smoke-free policies. Opportunities for professional development and staff benefits are included in this role.
This post will contribute to tackling inequalities in health through promoting and supporting people to stop smoking. It focuses on engaging with people in all maternity settings and offering them practical support to change their behaviour to achieve their own choices and goals whilst supporting them to make positive health changes that will improve pregnancy, birth outcomes and longer-term family health.
The post holder will work with the tobacco dependency team to achieve element 1 of the Saving Babies' Lives Care Bundle and reduce smoking in pregnancy by providing individualised stop smoking support to women and families in a flexible and innovative way.
As a smoke free champion across the Trust, you will provide information, advice and support to patients and staff alike on stopping smoking, minimising harm from tobacco and health-related issues in line with best guidance and protocols. You will be involved in awareness raising sessions in the Trust, reinforcing the training provided to staff to reduce harm from tobacco and the promotion of our Trust smoke free policy.
