Band 4 to 5 progression Clinical Pharmacy Technician – Clinical Pharmacy Technician role within the General and Specialist Medicine/Frailty team at The William Harvey Hospital Ashford.

This fast-paced, varied environment offers continuous development of clinical knowledge. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide an excellent medicines management service, with a focus on patient safety and well‑being.

• Completing detailed medication histories using a multitude of sources to reconcile current inpatient medications and initiate appropriate interventions.
• To counsel patients on new or changed medications to promote compliance.
• To aid doctors and nurses with medication queries.
• To evaluate the suitability of patients’ own medications for hospital use.
• To participate in discharge planning with ward staff and other health‑care professionals in secondary and primary care settings.
• Accuracy checking of dispensed items in the main hospital dispensary or satellite pharmacy within the acute medicines unit.
• To carry out audits on the department to ensure procedures are followed.
• Regular teaching to clinicians and health‑care professionals within the GSM/Frailty team.

• Band 4 to 5 progression post suitable for pharmacy technicians who are newly qualified or community pharmacists looking to start a hospital career.
• To progress to Band 5 you must complete the in‑house progression policy successfully.
• Applicants must display specialist knowledge in general and specialist medicine.
• Eligible candidates requiring Tier 2 sponsorship must meet UK Visas and Immigration eligibility criteria.
