To support and enhance the professional occupation focused care of offenders within the service, across all sectors of care; providing occupational therapy screenings and occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of a qualified professional occupational therapist, working independently according to a plan agreed with the qualified occupational therapist and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures. You will work in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to enable service users to reach their recovery potential and develop the skills necessary to manage their mental illness. You will motivate service users to engage in meaningful and purposeful activity within the prison community and encourage re-integration by liaising with prison staff and other stakeholders within the prison to promote social inclusion.

Post holder to be expected to work one day per week completing generic duties with the integrated mental health team as directed by the operational manager.

· To work effectively as a member of a team in providing a program of ward, department or wing-based therapeutic activities.

· To use technical, creative, psychosocial and daily living skills to engage service users in therapeutic activities to promote independence, wellbeing and social inclusion

· Under supervision of a registered OT, facilitate/co-facilitate planned groupwork and individual activities

· Contribute to formal OT assessments of service users under the guidance of a registered OT and provide feedback on service users’ occupational functioning

· Under supervision assist and support service users to achieve their goals

· To engage in the ongoing assessment and treatment of service users and adjust own clinical interventions based on the fluctuating needs of the service users.

· To assist in the implementation, evaluation, and modification of OT interventions

· Under the supervision of a registered OT, develop and implement specific socially inclusive projects to meet the needs of service users.

· To undertake delegated tasks to contribute to the safe and smooth running of the service

All applicants must be willing to undertake National Security Vetting in order to work in a Prison Setting. This will be completed as part of the pre-employment checks through Oxleas and the prison vetting team.

• Address History: 5 years address history will be needed.
