Job summary
A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Resident Forklift Engineer to perform maintenance and repairs on forklift trucks and lifting equipment. The successful candidate must have a strong mechanical engineering background and excellent communication skills. This role also involves customer interactions and ensuring high-quality services. The position offers a salary range of £35,000 – £40,000 plus a vehicle and is based in Doncaster.

First Military Recruitment is currently seeking a Resident Forklift Engineer on behalf of one of our clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance and repairs to long/short‑term machines and customer‑owned equipment, ensuring best practice with quality and professionalism is met at all times and maintaining customer satisfaction. Our client strongly encourages applications from ex‑military personnel; however, all candidates will be considered.
- Servicing and repair of forklift trucks and other lifting equipment.
- Carrying out routine maintenance.
- Checking oil and fuel levels.
- Checking all related hoses and connections.
- Steering and brake checks.
- Basic electrical checks – brake lights etc.
- Liaising with customers regarding their individual requirements.
- Submittal of accurate parts requisition information to Head Office.
- Acting as the face of the company, serving as a brand ambassador.
- A good mechanical engineering background is essential.
- Customer focused.
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently where required.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
- Experience with forklift trucks, military, agricultural or plant equipment highly desirable.
