Job description
Job Description

What if you could do the kind of work the world needs?

At WSP, you can access our global scale, contribute to landmark projects and connect with the brightest minds in your field to do the best work of your life. You can embrace your curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives. You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.

A little more about your role:
  1. Deliver consulting services to internal and external clients in the areas of conceptual model development, hydraulics, engineering design, hydrology, mine water management, storm water management, water balance assessment, dam break assessment, flood-modelling and flood risk assessment, water quality assessments and water conservation & demand management.
  2. Direct and review water resource aspects of a range of international mining and water resource projects, including environmental assessments, environmental permitting, and engineering design projects.
  3. Assist with developing projects and services which support climate change reporting, resilience and adaptation, including nature-based solutions.
  4. Project coordination, managing and participating actively in the development of budgets, schedules and plans for projects and proposals.
  5. Mentor junior staff within the Mine Water team to support their career development, technical excellence and commercial awareness.
  6. Project based travel and site work, working both in the UK, Ireland and internationally.
  7. Contribute to multidisciplinary project teams on local, regional and international consulting projects, so they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to client and WSP's standards.
  8. Display a ‘safety first’ attitude in line with an interdependent health and safety culture, promoting positive health and safety, raising safety issues through the appropriate channels and adhering to WSP’s health and safety policy and procedures.

Our UK and Ireland Mine Water team is formed of surface water, groundwater and geochemistry professionals with expertise spanning from recent graduates to individuals with more than 30 years of knowledge. This presents an opportunity to work on projects internationally and learn from experienced colleagues with different areas of technical expertise and to mentor more junior team members. We contribute to all parts of the mining life cycle, from exploration and pre-feasibility through to mine closure.

This role is predominantly within the mining business, with the potential to also work with other local sectors including infrastructure and land development.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, hydrology or a related field / postgraduate qualification in engineering or environmental management.
  2. Previous demonstrable experience conducting hydrologic and hydraulic assessments and design of water management infrastructure.
  3. Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written (in English).
  4. Strong technical report writing skills and ability to guide / peer review junior contributions.
  5. Experience of project management or coordination and strong financial tracking skills.
  6. Willingness to travel both locally and internationally.

Imagine a better future for you and a better future for us all.
