The Opportunity
Millbank is partnered with a global nuclear engineering organization recruiting for a Project Engineer to support the delivery of the UK’s next nuclear new build project in Leiston. This role will be London-based (hybrid) initially, with some travel to the Ipswich area later in the project.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the definition or validation of Technical Requirements and Specifications, including engagement with the Design Authority.
- Managing technical Open Points and Design Changes, supporting progression through governance processes such as Replication Principles, Technical Direction Forum (TDF), No Change Committee (NCC), and Non-Permanent Works Change Committee (NPWCC).
- Providing Design Technical Assurance for the end-to-end design, ensuring client acceptance through reviews and approvals as per surveillance plans.
- Managing risks through established Risk Management Processes.
- Supporting the Design Manager with technical input for Early Warnings, Compensation Events, Technical Queries, and Communications from the L3 Design Supply Chain, engaging with relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinating technical interfaces with other parties, including Site Establishment, Off-Site Infrastructure, NI Programme, CIBOP Programme, and Sizewell B.
- Ensuring compliance with client Engineering and Design processes, from Technical Requirement capture to EDR.
- Collaborating with the team to deliver design according to the Contract Schedule and Integrated Work Schedule (IWS).
Here's What You'll Need
- Honours Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience in delivery or management of Civil Engineering design projects.
- Chartered Engineer (MICE or MIStructE) or working towards chartership.
- Knowledge of design activities in heavy civil engineering structures, including reinforced concrete and structural steel, and familiarity with current standards and practices.
- Experience and enthusiasm for providing technical assistance within a delivery team.
- Experience leading technical teams and managing suppliers.
- Effective communication skills across project teams and stakeholders.
