Our client is looking for a dedicated and experienced QA Team Leader to manage the day-to-day operations of the Quality Assurance team within a fast-paced food production environment. This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring all products meet agreed customer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a small QA team to ensure effective completion of routine quality checks and inspections across production.
Monitor critical control points, including equipment checks, temperature controls, label verifications, microbiological sampling, metal detection, and hygiene standards.
Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, authenticity, and legality requirements in line with site FSQMS and health & safety protocols.
Conduct internal audits (GMP, hygiene, start-up checks) and escalate any non-conformances or food safety risks to the Technical Manager.
Liaise with internal departments and external auditors to support site compliance and uphold certification standards.
Actively promote and drive a strong food safety and quality culture, ensuring standards are understood and maintained throughout the site.
Train and mentor QA team members, ensuring they are fully equipped and competent in all inspection and monitoring procedures.
Oversee documentation and quality records, ensuring they are accurately completed and any trends or issues are addressed through corrective actions.
Deputise for the QA Team Leader when required and support wider departmental initiatives, including improvement projects and operational excellence meetings.
Foster a collaborative working relationship between QA and Production to maintain product integrity and deliver consistent quality.
Contribute to the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives within quality processes and team performance.
Support the Health & Safety team in promoting a safe working environment and ensuring all team members follow site rules and safety procedures.
Key Skills and Experience:
Experience in a quality assurance or technical role within the food manufacturing industry.
Strong understanding of food safety, HACCP, and quality management systems.
Confident leading a team, with the ability to motivate and develop others.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise across departments and levels.
High attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage workloads and priorities effectively.
Competent in completing reports, maintaining records, and presenting data related to quality KPIs.
