Job summary
A leading engineering firm in Cheltenham is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to manage automation and special purpose equipment projects. Responsibilities include overseeing projects from order to completion, ensuring compliance with regulations, and liaising with customers and suppliers. The ideal candidate has a background in FMCG, Pharmaceutical, or Automotive sectors and demonstrates strong project management and communication skills. This permanent position offers a salary between £45,000 and £52,000 per annum.

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer with a background in automation and special purpose equipment, ideally within FMCG, Pharmaceutical, or Automotive environments.

You will take full ownership of assigned projects, acting as the main point of contact for customers and suppliers, while ensuring projects are delivered on time, to specification, and within budget.
- Manage projects from order to completion
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal teams (Design, Manufacturing, Procurement, Installation)
- Chair project review meetings and attend customer and supplier sites
- Maintain financial control and support project reporting
- Support sales, proposals, and planning activities
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, CE marking, and current legislation
- Ensure equipment meets customer xsabvtc and regulatory requirements
- Experience delivering automation or special purpose equipment projects
- Background in FMCG, Pharmaceutical, or Automotive sectors
- Strong communication, project management, and commercial awareness
