EC&I Design Engineer
Job summary
A leading engineering and maintenance provider is seeking an Electrical Engineer to take charge of electrical project design. This role involves completing designs to high standards, preparing documentation for safety assessments, and collaborating with various disciplines. Candidates should have an HNC/HND in EC&I Engineering and experience in the oil and gas sector is desirable. The position is permanent and based in Wotton-under-Edge, UK.
Qualifications
- Minimum of HNC / HND in EC&I Engineering or a related discipline.
- Knowledge and experience of the design life cycle of a project.
- Experience in a structured design engineering environment.
- Desirable experience with EC&I designs for hazardous area applications.
- Experience producing designs for the oil & gas industry.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of electrical aspects of project design.
- Complete electrical designs on time and budget.
- Create risk assessments and method statements.
- Liaise with mechanical and software disciplines.
- Attend client meetings for design reviews.
- Prepare documentation for safety assessments and manuals.
- Peer review designs of fellow engineers.
- Participate in design working groups to enhance standards.

- Taking ownership of the electrical elements of project design packages.
- Complete electrical Designs to the required high standard on time and on budget.
- Create Risk assessments and Method statements where necessary.
- Liaising with various disciplines including Mechanical, Software and CAD in respect to interface design.
- Attending meetings with the client for design reviews and progress updates.
- Prepare documentation for Formal Safety Assessments and for O&M manuals.
- Peer review the designs of fellow Engineers.
- Participate in Design Working Groups to enhance the design standards within the department.
- You must possess a minimum of HNC / HND in EC&I Engineering or an associated discipline.
- Knowledge and experience of the design life cycle of a project.
- Experience working in a structured design engineering environment.
- Previous experience of producing EC&I designs for hazardous area applications would be desirable although we would consider applications from individuals who have a working knowledge of ATEX regulations.
- Experience of producing designs for the oil & gas industry.
