Contract: January 2026

New Year, New Role - Make a Difference!
Ready to kick off 2026 with a role that truly matters?

As a Youth Support Officer, you'll be working with young people in secondary schools across the Torfaen area, helping them thrive both academically and personally. These pupils come from diverse backgrounds and may have Additional Learning Needs (ALN) or simply require extra support to thrive in the classroom.

Your role is to build strong, positive relationships with students-acting as a mentor and communicating effectively to help them feel understood and supported. You will be able to provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of ALN and behavioural challenges. You will work closely with students offering consistent emotional and academic support throughout the school day.

This opportunity is very exciting as it will not only give you the opportunity to work with these incredible young people but will also enhance your knowledge and understanding for your future in Education as a whole.

Requirements

Because you'll be supporting young people, we're ideally looking for applicants with some relevant experience. This could be in areas like sports coaching, babysitting, care work, or youth support. However, if you have other transferable skills and can demonstrate these at interview, we'd love to hear from you!

(We can help you obtain the below as part of the registration process)

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Education Workforce Regulation registration (EWC)
  • Aged 18 and over
  • Level 2 as a minimum for Safeguarding
  • 2 professional based references which cover a 24-month period (or equivalent)
Onboarding Process
  • Apply by attaching a CV for consideration
  • Shortlisting will take place after the application being submitted
  • A telephone call will be provided to talk through more detail on the role so you can establish if you wish to move forward and if the role is right for you
  • If happy to proceed, you will then be invited in for interview
  • If successful at interview stage, we will do all of the background work to have you cleared for work ahead of the start date
