A local government council is seeking a Young Person’s Advisor for a full-time temporary role lasting 12 months. The position involves working with young people primarily outside of Durham, providing support as they transition to independence. Candidates should have a Level 3 qualification in a relevant field and experience working directly with youth in various settings. An exciting opportunity has become available within the Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children’s Team (UASC Team) as a Young Person’s Advisor, working mainly with young people who live outside of the Durham area including Birmingham and London.
The Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children’s Team (UASC Team) provide consistent specialist support, care and guidance for asylum seeking young people who have come to Durham under the National Transfer Scheme or have spontaneously arrived in the area. The team supports both Children Looked After and Care Leavers.
Young People’s Advisers (YPA) within the team support young people transitioning to leaving care and who have left care between the ages of 16 and 25.
