Job Overview

25 hours per week – Actual Salary: £18,117 per annum.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Young Carers team to support children within North Somerset who have a caring responsibility at home. In this Young Carers Coordinator role you will conduct statutory assessments, plan, deliver and lead a programme of support for senior young carers aged 13‑18 years, and arrange extra trips outside our standard funding.

As a main referrer you will be an important link to schools, providing advice and guidance to young carers.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct statutory assessments and develop support programmes for young carers aged 13‑18.
  • Plan, deliver and lead group sessions and individual support.
  • Arrange additional trips and activities beyond standard funding.
  • Provide young carers with a break from caring duties.
  • Serve as a key link to schools, offering advice and guidance.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience building rapport and working with young people.
  • Excellent communication skills and sensitivity to the impact of caring.
  • Understanding of multi‑agency approaches and child safeguarding.
  • Confidence in planning and delivering group sessions.
  • Networking ability with a range of stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to work regular evening hours.
  • Successful Enhanced DBS check.
  • Full driving licence with access to own car or alternative transport.
