Overview

Personal Assistants support people to live well. They provide the right support at the right time to help others to live their best lives. This post is to assist a lady who is an amputee and uses a wheelchair. Personal care support will be required, including the use of a hoist. Tasks include: personal care, light housework, cooking, shopping, assistance to attend support group meetings, hospital support visits for fellow amputees, visiting family and other social support. The successful applicant will be joining a small team of carers.

Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care, including use of a hoist when required.
  • Perform light housework, cooking and shopping as needed.
  • Assist with attendance at support group meetings and hospital support visits for fellow amputees.
  • Provide social support by visiting family and engaging in other community activities.
  • Collaborate as part of a small team of carers.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • You must have a caring nature, be honest and reliable.
  • Physical fitness is required to assist with transfers and to push a manual wheelchair (electric wheelchairs are used for longer journeys).
  • Being a driver with your own vehicle for work purposes is an advantage, but not essential.
  • First aid experience is an advantage, but not essential.
  • Care experience is not required as full training on the job will be provided.
  • Non-smokers are preferred.
Details
  • The support needed is from late morning until 6pm in the evening. Days and times to be agreed. Flexible working is available.
  • Rate of pay: £12.21 per hour.
  • Benefits: 5.6 paid holidays a year and the opportunity for training relevant to your role.
  • Eligibility: Successful applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.
  • DBS: Successful applicants will need an enhanced DBS for supporting adults. The cost will be met by the employer.
