The Role

We are seeking a committed, enthusiastic, and skilled Year 5 Class Teacher to join a thriving and inclusive 4-form entry primary school in the London Borough of Barnet. This is a full-time position, starting in February, and is suitable for both experienced teachers and confident ECTs with strong Key Stage 2 training.

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in line with the National Curriculum
  • Take full responsibility for the academic progress, wellbeing, and pastoral care of pupils in your class
  • Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform planning
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, achievement, and presentation of work
  • Work collaboratively with parallel class teachers and support staff within Year 5
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and colleagues

Person Specification
Essential Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally Year 5
  • Strong knowledge of the KS2 curriculum and assessment frameworks
  • Ability to deliver engaging, inclusive, and well-structured lessons
  • Excellent classroom management and behaviour strategies
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
Desirable:

  • Confidence using data to support pupil progress
