Year 1 Teacher - Maternity Cover

Location: Peterborough
Start Date: June 2026
Contract: Maternity Cover (Fixed Term)
Salary: 150- 160 (dependent on experience)

Tradewind Recruitment is currently working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school to recruit a Year 1 Teacher for a maternity cover position.

The Role
  • Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons in line with the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment
  • Assess, monitor, and support pupil progress effectively
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and parents
  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL
  • Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and child welfare
The Ideal Candidate
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK
  • Has experience teaching in Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1
  • Demonstrates strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Is enthusiastic, caring, and committed to pupil development
  • Has a sound understanding of phonics and early reading strategies
