Job description
Overview

This prestige client are part of a multi faceted group who have been providing first class fleet solutions for many years. They operate locally, nationally and are a truly international brand. We are looking for a qualified and time served HGV Technician who can demonstrate a thorough understanding of commercial vehicle mechanical dynamics. You can expect to be situated in a positive and vibrant working environment where your efforts will be rewarded. A skills shortage can be trained by way of upskilling. What cannot be trained however is the right attitude and the desire to give your clients a first class service.

You will be carrying out inspections to a varied and diverse fleet, typically including HGVs, Municipal/Council vehicles, gritters, dust carts/refuse collection vehicles and sweepers.

You could be working on main dealer heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers, hook loaders, light commercials (vans), trailers and tippers.

The type of work you can expect to be carrying out includes (but is not limited to):

  • Routine and preventative maintenance
  • MOT preparation
  • Scheduled servicing to DVSA standards
  • 6 (or 8) weekly inspections
  • Correction of running defects
  • Chassis and fabrication work
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Improvement of vehicle standards
  • Electrical and wiring inspections and corrections
Responsibilities
  • Carry out inspections and maintenance on a varied fleet of vehicles (HGVs, municipal vehicles, gritters, refuse collection vehicles, sweepers, etc.)
  • Support MOT preparation and ensure DVSA standards are met
  • Identify running defects and implement corrective actions
  • Perform chassis, fabrication, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and wiring tasks as required
  • Contribute to improvements in vehicle standards and service quality
Qualifications
  • Ideally fully qualified (City & Guilds), NVQ or equivalent
  • Additional accreditations such as IRTEC desirable
  • HGV Class 1 or equivalent licence desirable
