Overview
An exciting dual role to manage the day-to-day operations of the workshop while providing hands-on technical support and motivating a great team. This is a 50/50 hybrid role involving supervising technicians, assisting with diagnostics, carrying out repair work when required, and planning/controlling the daily workload to ensure all booked work is completed within agreed timeframes. Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7.00am to 4.30pm, i.e. 45 hours per week – 30 minutes for lunch (unpaid). Every other Saturday on a rota basis. Other duties may be required of the post holder in addition to those listed above and below, to ensure that the requirements of the business are met at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the workshop.
- Support the team to stay motivated and engaged.
- Support technicians with fault diagnosis and complex repairs.
- Complete repair and service tasks when time allows.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure all work meets company and manufacturer standards.
- Maintain a professional, safe, and efficient workshop environment.
- Plan and allocate work for the day to ensure all jobs are completed on time.
- Monitor job progress throughout the day and adjust plans when necessary.
- Communicate job status and any delays to the Service Advisor team.
- Ensure accurate job documentation is completed and maintained.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong technical knowledge within an automotive or mechanical workshop environment.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Effective leadership and communication abilities.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to high standards of service and workmanship.
- Experience in a workshop foreman, workshop controller, or senior technician role (preferred).
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent automotive qualification.
- Proven experience supervising technicians or leading a workshop team.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Class 1 Driving Licence desirable.
