Overview

Works Delivery Manager - Sheffield. Permanent Opportunity. As a Works Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for the management of multiple Network Rail and rail related infrastructure contracts, including planned and reactive works. Reporting to the Project Manager in Sheffield, the role will involve working on projects throughout the Eastern Region. In order to carry out some of the main functions of the role, you will need to have an excellent understanding of design drawings and a commercial awareness of cost monitoring and cost value reconciliation. Liaising with the Client on a day-to-day basis is also a key part of this position, so we are looking for someone who is able to confidently maintain and develop client relationships on the basis of mutual trust and high standards. This is a very fast paced role, in which you can expect to have a high involvement in the planning of the works programme.

Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple Network Rail and rail related infrastructure contracts, including planned and reactive works, reporting to the Project Manager in Sheffield and supporting projects across the Eastern Region.
  • Contribute to the planning of the works programme with high involvement in scheduling and sequencing of activities.
  • Provide guidance and practical advice to site personnel for the competent execution of the contract works.
  • Promote and implement site specific management plans to ensure site activities comply with Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies.
  • Prepare site works package plans and contract plans to meet the Client's requirements and specifications.
  • Liaise with the Contracts Manager and Commercial team regarding estimates or technical queries.
  • Accept, control and reconcile temporary and permanent works materials and equipment necessary to achieve the contract works, in accordance with planned activities.
  • Review completed works with the Site Supervisor, ensuring all works are completed and that all project documentation is present and correct.
  • Process the requisition of major items of temporary and permanent works materials, sub-contractors, plant and equipment necessary to achieve contract delivery.
Qualifications
  • CAM Framework experience, railway experience and construction management experience (smaller value low complexity projects in multiple disciplines: structures, drainage, earthworks).
  • HNC/HND at Level 4/5 in Construction or proven industry experience – Essential.
  • Proven experience of working on the Railway – Essential.
  • Railway Safety Training (PTS/ COSS) – Essential.
  • SMSTS – Essential.
  • Experience of Cost Monitoring – Highly desirable.
  • SSOW planning – Desirable.
  • Strong problem solving skills and a proactive nature.
  • The confidence to act on initiative and communicate effectively.
